Bake with Purpose: Sweet Treat for Kenya
Wouldn’t it be cool if a pastry could change lives after cancer? 🍋✨
A year ago, I traveled to Kenya with A Fresh Chapter and saw firsthand how the Mizizi program is transforming lives. More than 4,300 Kenyans impacted by cancer have found hope and healing through it.
For me, this mission is personal. I went through cancer treatment without psychological support—and I know how much programs like Mizizi matter, especially in places where resources are limited.
That is why I am creating the Dawa Lemon Tart—a pastry inspired by the Kenyan Dawa drink and the lemon tarts that gave me comfort during chemo. It’s more than dessert—it’s a symbol of resilience, community, and possibility.
This year, funding cuts are threatening Mizizi’s work. With your support, we can ensure more patients and caregivers in Kenya find strength and possibility after cancer—while you also get to learn how to make this unique pastry.
Every registration includes one entry into a raffle for my book, Can-Can and the Adventure of Ming Island, a children's story dedicated to addressing the challenges of cancer in a positive and uplifting way.
Join me in turning food into hope. Together, we can prove that healing can begin with something as simple—and as powerful—as a tart.
